Procurement Officer
Full-time (8:30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday), permanent
Location: Witney, Oxford
Salary: £22,000 - £26,000 dependant on experience

The Company:
Philip Dennis Foodservice is a well-established family business distributing Frozen, Chilled and Ambient goods, as well as Fresh Butchery and Fresh Fish products, to customers throughout Oxfordshire, the Midlands and the South West of England.

The Role:
We’re seeking a diligent and focused Purchasing Officer/Planner to support with the day to day management of suppliers and inventory items across our three depots. The role will involve:

  1. Manage a portfolio of suppliers and their products within the categories Frozen, Ambient, Non-food and chilled by raising purchase orders on suppliers to obtain and maintain correct level of stock. Work within supplier lead-time, demand forecasting and inventory stock levels.
  2. Ensure product stock holding levels are in line at each depot with company seasonality, promotional activity, trade shows and relevant Sales drives.
  3. Proactivity review what products are stored at each depot versus sales and demand.
  4. Proactively analyse supplier minimum drops versus commercials savings on bulk/pallet deliveries.
  5. Working closely with the Field Sales and Telesales teams ensure customer requirements are met on stock levels and availability.
  6. Proactively review and analyse over/under stocks/Short dates and working with Purchasing Manager agree solutions to remedy situations.
  7. Chase and challenge suppliers on short or no-show deliveries and re arrange new stock deliveries. Highlight any issues to the Purchasing Manager and Sales team.
  8. Working with Buyers ensure purchases against price increases, promotional offers and spot deals are actioned within agreed time frame.
  9. Work closely with Warehouse and Operations for stock and date checks.
  10. Build rapport and strong communication with Sales and Operation Teams.
  11. Assist Sales, Telesales and Operations teams in queries relating to products or suppliers


The Person:
The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working in the food industry or FMCG would be advantageous
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of purchasing systems such as Microsoft Dynamics and MRP systems is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of multi depot purchasing and supply chain would be advantageous but not essential
  • Previous recent experience in a similar role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills including good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages (particularly Excel)
  • Excellent attention to detail
